The UV Index measures the strength of ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The higher the number, the greater the potential for skin and eye damage and the less time it can take for unprotected skin to burn.
When is UV strongest?
UV exposure is generally strongest around the middle of the day. Clouds can reduce UV, but they do not block it completely, so protection can still be important even when skies are not perfectly clear.
